Chaney is a band with a purpose. The band’s lead singer, Chad Chaney, taking a huge leap of faith, moved to Austin, Texas three years ago when he got the calling to leave behind a life of "selfish dreams" in the acting business. Chad was well on his way to living that dream, when the Lord gave him a greater purpose for his life- a call to ministry. The choice was instantaneous and the move from his previous locale in Melrose, CA, departing for Austin, was made that very week. Not knowing anyone in Austin, he took his first leadership position in a singles ministry where he found an audience hungry for what he was being called upon to offer. From that moment, which would be his first worship service, Chad knew he was put on this earth with one purpose- to outwardly worship the King of Kings, sharing his ministry through Praise and Worship.

A chance encounter soon lead to a meeting with Dewayne Morris and Jay Jayusuriya, and the band CHANEY was born. The band now includes Chad, lead vocalist/principle lyricist, as well as acoustic guitar; Dewayne Morris on electric and lead guitars; Jay Jayasuriya playing keyboards, piano and providing back-up vocals; William Rutschman on the drums, and Murilo Dias playing bass. When asked to pinpoint their sound, the band describes theirs as that of Christian rock, with influences such as Jeremy Camp and Switchfoot sprinkled into the mix to reach a broader audience. The band's stated goal and purpose is to produce music which appeals to anybody. Lyrically, CHANEY's music is rooted in the struggles of everyday living and the redemption which is found in their lives.
